Bayer Leverkusen’s DJ at the BayArena played ‘Bella Ciao’ after Xabi Alonso’s side eliminated Roma from the Europa League semifinal, but Sevilla also rubbed salt into the Giallorossi’s wound with a social media post that has now been cancelled.

Bayer Leverkusen eliminated Roma from the Europa League semifinal on Thursday after a 2-2 draw at the Bay Arena, which allowed the Germans to secure a 4-2 aggregate win.

The Bundesliga champions were eager to take revenge after Roma eliminated them last season, so their DJ mocked the Giallorossi at the end of the match by playing a remixed version of ‘Bella Ciao’ after the final whistle.

Talk about twisting the knife. Leverkusen maintain their unbeaten run, again, but exacting revenge on Roma for last year’s semi-final defeat in the Europa League. And then the DJ whacks on “Bella Ciao!” 😮 pic.twitter.com/OSVy8ROYSr

There was more from Roma’s opponents on Thursday night as Sevilla also appeared to celebrate their elimination.

The La Liga side had won the Europa League, beating the Giallorossi on penalties in the Final last season and trolled Daniele De Rossi’s side last night with a post on their official English accounts on Facebook and X.

Sevilla’s post was shared on Thursday night but it’s no longer visible on Friday morning.
