The highly-anticipated meeting between Barcelona pair Xavi and Joan Laporta on Sunday evening was brought to a premature close.

That’s according to multiple media outlets, who point towards the latter as being under the weather.

Barcelona, of course, marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Rayo Vallecano to Catalunya’s capital for the club’s penultimate La Liga outing of the campaign.

When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged on the right side of a comfortable 3-0 result, after Robert Lewandowski’s early opener was added to by way of a brace from super-sub Pedri.

And yet, post-match, the mood at Montjuïc was far from a celebratory one.

This came as tensions continued to mount, surrounding the impending face-to-face between the aforementioned pair of Xavi, and Joan Laporta.

With the former’s future understood to have been thrown firmly back up in the air this week, Xavi admitted during his press conference tonight that he and president Laporta had organised a get-together.

And the discussion in question, a short time later, did indeed take place.

However, as confirmed by Barcelona insider Gerard Romero of Jijantes, amongst other sources, it lasted just five minutes.

This comes with Laporta having been ‘feeling unwell’.

The showdown talks over Xavi’s future beyond the summer, as a result, have been postponed.
