How Xavi’s departure could impact Barcelona’s Guido Rodríguez signing | OneFootball

An insight into the potential knock-on effect of the departure of Xavi from his spot on the Barcelona bench on the club’s summer transfer activity has today been provided.

The info comes courtesy of transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, and surrounds the long-discussed arrival of Guido Rodríguez.

Midfielder Guido, it is understood, has a verbal agreement in place with the Barcelona brass, over the terms of a pre-contract for the summer.

As much comes ahead of the imminent expiration of the World Cup winner’s terms with Real Betis.

Xavi, for his part, has green-lighted Guido’s addition, of the opinion that the Argentine would add some much-needed steel and experience to the base of his midfield.

Mounting speculation surrounding a potential parting of ways between Barcelona and their head coach will in turn no doubt represent a source of concern for Guido and his entourage.

The last 48 hours have seen reports spread like wildfire that Blaugrana president Joan Laporta is furious with Xavi, owing to comments made by the Spanish tactician during a midweek press conference.

So much so, that the 44-year-old’s dismissal is now being taken into serious consideration.

And, as per the aforementioned Romano, such a development could well pump the brakes on the arrival of the aforementioned Guido.

Xavi was a key driving force behind Barca’s move for the 30-year-old, but, in the case of a new manager being lined up, he too would then need to give his approval to the operation.
