In his pre-match press conference, Paulo Fonseca was asked about the rehabilitation of the injured Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier (22). The 22-year-old has undergone an operation for a knee injury.

Chevalier has sustained a knee injury which has ruled the stopper out for Les Dogues’ vital final day clash against Nice. Lille need to win the match or better the result of Brest to ensure qualification for the Champions League next season.

With Chevalier under the age of 23, this makes him eligible for selection for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris to represent France. His recent injury setback had raised fears that he would be unable to be selected by Thierry Henry for the competition but in his latest press-conference, Fonseca has eased those fears revealing that he should be fit for the competition.

Commenting on Chevalier’s fitness, the Lille manager said, “Lucas is doing well after his operation. He will be ready for the Olympics.” Positive news for Thierry Henry as he hopes to win gold in Paris.
