PREVIEW: BK Häcken v Chelsea

Article image:PREVIEW: BK Häcken v Chelsea

Chelsea are in need of a good result when they travel to Gothenburg to face BK Häcken in their latest UEFA Women’s Champions League fixture this evening.

The two sides battled out a goalless draw in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge a week ago. That result left BK Häcken top of the group on seven points while Chelsea are playing catch up in second position with five points. With Real Madrid and Paris FC going into battle elsewhere, Chelsea cannot afford to slip up in Sweden.

BK Häcken head coach Mak Lind continues to be without long-term absentees Anna Csiki and Stine Larsen. Elin Rubensson is not yet fit to feature while Alexandra Hellekant and Hanna Wijk are sidelined until early 2024. The Swedish club are not thought to be nursing any fresh injuries from last week’s stalemate in South West London.

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has confirmed that Melanie Leupolz is out due to illness while long-term absentees Catarina Macario, Kateřina Svitková, Jelena Čanković, Millie Bright and Aniek Nouwen are also all unavailable. Maren Mjelde and Kadeisha Buchanan are both in the squad and ready to play.

The UEFA Women’s Champions League fixture between BK Häcken and Chelsea takes place at the Bravida Arena at 8pm this evening. The match will be shown live on DAZN.
