Luis Enrique has been appointed as the new Spain coach after their World Cup disappointment.
The former Barcelona boss was officially announced as the new national team manager on Monday following Fernando Hierro’s departure last week.
Hierro walked away from La Roja after they were dumped out of the tournament by hosts Russia in the round of 16.
It’s been a turbulent month for the Spanish Football Federation, with former boss Julen Lopetegui being fired on the eve of the World Cup, after he was approached by Real Madrid to take over as of next season.
That left Hierro in charge with just two days notice, and unsurprisingly struggled to adapt his ideas to the squad.
A draw against Portugal and wins over Morocco and Iran saw them top the group and play Russia – but that was where their World Cup ended.
Luis Enrique will now take charge, with his first match being against England in September.
