So we thought we’d catch up with the City squad from that day and find out what they’re up to nowadays.

STARTING XI

Joe Hart

Hart spent four more seasons at City (and won one more Premier League title) before Pep Guardiola deemed the goalkeeper surplus to requirements and sent him on a season-long loan to Torino in 2016.

The former England No1 then spent the following season on loan at West Ham before joining Burnley on a permanent deal in 2018.

Now 33, he has not made a single Premier League appearance for the Clarets this season.

Pablo Zabaleta

The scorer of City’s first goal against QPR, fan favourite Zabaleta racked up 333 appearances for the club before leaving to join West Ham in the summer of 2017.

Now 35, the Argentine full-back revealed this week that he’s currently doing his coaching badges and hopes to step into management once his playing days are over.

Vincent Kompany

The first and, so far, only City captain to lift the Premier League trophy, Kompany spent another seven years at City despite numerous injury problems.

The 34-year-old Belgian left the club last summer to become player/manager of Anderlecht, but not before scoring a stunning goal against Leicester which effectively clinched the 2018/19 title.

Joleon Lescott

After his mistake allowed Djibril Cisse to make it 2-1, Lescott might have been the most relieved man in the stadium when Agüero’s shot hit the back of the net.

The former England defender left to join West Brom in 2014 and also played for Aston Villa, AEK Athens and Sunderland before retiring in 2017.

The 37-year-old is now back at City working as a liaison officer for players who are out on loan.

Gaël Clichy

Clichy running and passionately embracing with Hart after Agüero’s goal is one of the most iconic images from 13/05/2012.

The 34-year-old Frenchman left the club in the summer of 2017 and still plays alongside former City star Robinho for Turkish side İstanbul Başakşehir.

Samir Nasri

Article image:Where are they now? Manchester City's 2012 title winning team 💙

A lapse in judgement from Nasri meant 93:20 very nearly never happened.

Moments before Agüero’s goal, the Frenchman mistakenly let the ball go out of play for a QPR throw-in but luckily, ex-City defender Nedum Onuoha threw it straight to Lescott and City went down the field and scored.

It wasn’t the last lapse of judgement Nasri has made in his career, however. After spending a season on loan at Sevilla, he joined Turkish side Antalyaspor in 2017.

But in 2018, Uefa banned him from football for six months after he was found guilty of ingesting a banned substance via an intravenous drip.

A short spell at West Ham followed before he linked up with Kompany at Anderlecht last summer.

But last month the 32-year-old’s future at the club was thrown into doubt after he was reported to have gone AWOL while he should have been self-isolating due to the coronavirus – an accusation he denies.

Gareth Barry

Barry was substituted and replaced by Edin Džeko in the 69th minute against QPR.

The former England midfielder left City to join Everton in 2014 and spent three seasons with the Toffees before moving to West Brom.

Remarkably, the Premier League’s all-time record appearance maker is still playing at the age of 39 but this season he has made just three Championship appearances for the Baggies, amounting to 93 minutes.

David Silva

That game against QPR was far from Silva’s best for City, but he did at least get the assist from a corner for Džeko’s equaliser.

Now playing his final season for the club as captain, the Spaniard has won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five League Cups.

And what’s more, he is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s all-time great players.

Yaya Touré

Many people forget that City were actually dealt a big blow that day when Touré had to go off injured just before half-time.

But the Ivorian more than made up for it in the coming years by helping the club to two more titles and two League Cups before leaving in 2018.

A short-lived spell at Olympiacos followed before, in 2019, he joined Chinese side Qingdao Huanghai.

And after winning the 2019 China League One title, he appears to have now finally hung up his boots for good.

Carlos Tevez

It was Tevez who got Joey Barton sent off that day, before he was substituted for Mario Balotelli in the 76th minute.

The Argentine spent one more season in Manchester before embarking on a nomadic world tour which saw him play for Juventus, Boca Juniors and Shanghai Shenhua.

Now 36, the striker is back at Boca for the third spell of his career.

Sergio Agüero

It was of course Agüero who permanently etched his name into football folklore with his 94th minute winner that day.

He’s netted 254 goals and counting for City, but he’ll never score a bigger one than that.

The Argentine became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer in 2017 and this season, he also set new records for most Premier League hat-tricks and most Premier League goals scored by a foreign player.

Not bad.

Costel Pantilimon

The Romanian goalkeeper made 29 appearances for City before moving to Sunderland in 2014. He is currently on loan at Omonia Nicosia from Nottingham Forest.

Micah Richards

After a season on loan at Fiorentina, the former City academy graduate left to join Aston Villa in 2015. But last summer he was forced to retire due to injury at the age of 31, and he now mostly works as a TV and radio pundit.

Aleksandar Kolarov

The Serbian left-back left City to join Roma in 2017, where he still plays, alongside Džeko.

James Milner

Milner left to join Liverpool on a free transfer in 2015, where he has since won the Champions League and will soon be hoping to add a third Premier League winner’s medal to his collection.

Nigel de Jong

The Dutchman replaced the injured Touré against QPR and had a hand in the winning goal. He left City that summer and was last seen playing for Qatar Stars League club Al-Shahania.

Edin Džeko

The Bosnian Diamond helped City win one more Premier League title before leaving in 2015. Now 34, he is captain of Roma.

Mario Balotelli

His assist for Agüero’s goal was famously his only assist in a City shirt. He left in 2013 and has since played for AC Milan, Liverpool, Nice, Marseille and now Brescia.

MANAGER

Roberto Mancini

Mancini spent one more season at the club before he was sacked on the eve of the 2013 FA Cup final.

He has since coached Galatasaray, Inter Milan, Zenit Saint Petersburg and is now in charge of the Italian national team.
