In a recent report, The Daily Mirror claimed that Liverpool are eyeing a move for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Willian Pacho this summer. It has been stated that the Reds are showing interest in landing the Ecuadorian centre-back later this year.

The 22-year-old is having a solid campaign at the German club after he put in a series of impressive displays at the heart of their defence. Pacho has registered two assists in 42 matches for Eintracht Frankfurt this season in all competitions.

The Ecuadorian sensation has been a rock at the back based on his average of 1.9 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 4.4 clearances per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has also been excellent with his ball distribution after completing 85% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Reds to arrange a cut-price deal for him at the end of this campaign.

Is Pacho A Good Choice For Liverpool?

Pacho is a tough-tackling defender who can scan the danger well to make some timely interceptions on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

Standing at 1.87m, the Ecuadorian sensation can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. However, he might struggle to adapt to the high intensity of Premier League football if Liverpool manage to bring him on board in the upcoming transfer window.

At 22, Pacho has the potential to be a future star in European football. Hence, the Reds would be wise to go all out to secure his services this summer. We can expect Pacho to inject more bite and steel into the Merseyside club‘s backline. He would also serve as a decent long-term successor to Joel Matip at Anfield.

With all things considered, Pacho would be a great choice for the Reds to pursue at the end of this season. However, Liverpool would have to be patient with his development if they want to unlock the best out of the talented youngster in England.
