Sheffield United were finally put out of their Premier League misery by Newcastle, losing 5-1 at St James' Park to be mathematically relegated, while at the other end of the table Liverpool fell off the pace in a gripping title race thanks to a damaging draw with West Ham United.

After all of that fun, here's our picks for the best players of the gameweek.

8. Antony

Finally.After 27 Premier League appearances, Antony scored his first league goal of the 2023/24 campaign on Saturday.The Brazilian showed a rare piece of ruthlessness in the eventual draw with Burnley at Old Trafford, cutting out a misplaced pass before cleverly finding the bottom corner with a left-footed effort.As well as scoring, Antony also put in a pretty damn decent shift off the ball, winning an impressive ten duels throughout the 90 minutes.

7. Conor Gallagher

Chelsea needed one of their leaders to step up after their abysmal thumping at the hands of Arsenal last Tuesday, and that's exactly what Conor Gallagher did against Aston Villa.The captain put in a real shift in the heart of Chelsea's midfield on Saturday evening, winning 100% of his tackles, completing 95% of his passes and, most importantly, chipped in with a vital late goal to secure a point for his team.

After a surprising dip in form, Bukayo Saka has been firmly back to his best over the last week.Arsenal's 'Starboy' was instrumental in his side's thumping win over London rivals Chelsea last Monday and followed that up with an equally instrumental performance against another London rival in Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.His goal in the 3-2 win was his 15th in the Premier League this season, becoming the first English Arsenal player to hit that tally since Ian Wright back in 1997. Impressive stuff.

5. Enes Unal

Enes Unal made quite the impression in his very first Premier League start at the weekend.Drafted into the starting lineup after 12 appearances from the bench, Unal more than took his chance against Brighton, netting one and assisting another in the 3-0 win.Expect Bournemouth to make his loan from Getafe permanent very, very soon.

4. Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne wasn't at the peak of his powers and yet was still good enough to bag two assists and an 8/10 rating against Nottingham Forest.There isn't another player in the Premier League who can do that without noticeably getting out of second gear.

Up against a team who reportedly held an interest in his services last summer, Jarrod Bowen put in a storming performance at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon.The England international headed home his 20th goal of the season before adding a tenth assist of the campaign soon after by teeing up Michail Antonio in the second half.A classy outing from West Ham's star man.

2. Alexander Isak

Having now scored 19 goals in just 26 Premier League games this season, it's hard to argue that Alexander Isak isn't one of the most clinical forwards in the Premier League.The Swedish forward was in fine form once again at the weekend, netting his second brace in the space of three games, this time against a rather sorry Sheffield United team.

It wasn't too long ago that Kai Havertz was being called the worst signing of the 2023 summer transfer window.Fast forward to the business end of the 2023/24 Premier League season and there's now an argument to be made about him being the best.After enduring an unsuccessful spell in Arsenal's midfield, Havertz has been shifted back into his favoured false nine role recently and his performances have improved tenfold as a result.His outing against Tottenham, in which scored one and assisted another, was probably his best in an Arsenal jersey to date.
