Djordje Petrovic insists the Chelsea squad believe in Mauricio Pochettino despite huge uncertainty surrounding his future.

It’s been an up and down campaign for the Blues, with Pochettino being under pressure for large parts of it, particularly due to a poor first half of the season which saw Chelsea win just three of their first ten league matches.

The 52-year-old has overseen a major turnaround post Christmas with only Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool taking more points in 2024, as the club secured a top six finish and a return to European football.

Petrovic insists squad are behind Pochettino

Despite the difficult results this season the players have always spoken very positively about the Argentine, but they remain unsure as to whether he will be their manager next season.

Pochettino is set to sit down with the club’s hierarchy for an end of season review which will decide his future at Stamford Bridge.

The former Tottenham manager was also approached by several players at full time as they showed him their appreciation for his work this season.

Petrovic insists the players are behind Pochettino.

In the aftermath of the victory against Bournemouth Petrovic was asked about Pochettino and insisted the squad were behind him.

‘For me, personally, I really believe him and the whole coaching staff because they believed in me and gave me the chance”, Petrovic told Mail Sport.

“They supported me a lot and they have a relationship with the players where everyone is important, so that is a good thing for everyone.

“Sometimes if you have 25 players with the same qualities it is difficult to manage everyone but he does it really well.

“Everyone finds himself in the squad and everyone believes him. We are happy that we have him as the coach.”

Petrovic has had a successful debut season following his arrival from MLS last summer, and although he had to wait until December to make his debut he has made the most of his opportunities with some impressive performances.

The 24-year-old is clearly the club’s number one but it remains to be seen once Robert Sanchez is fully fit again if he will regain the position.
