English referee Anthony Taylor will be in charge of Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg between Borussia Dortmund and Ligue 1 champions PSG, UEFA and PSG have announced. Die Schwarzgelben and Les Parisiens have respectively eliminated Spanish teams Atlético de Madrid and Barcelona in the quarter-finals. Borussia Dortmund and PSG will reunite after locking horns in the group stage.

Taylor was already in charge of PSG-Barcelona, which Les Parisiens lost 3-2 before mounting a spectacular comeback in the second leg (4-1). Taylor drew controversy this Saturday in the Premier League after denying Liverpool striker Cody Gakpo a clean shot at goal when West Ham goalie Alphonse Areola released the ball in front of him. Taylor will lead an all-English refereeing team, with the notable exception of Norwegian fourth official Espen Eskas. Stuart Attwell and David Coote will be in charge of VAR.

Clément Turpin to referee Bayern Munich – Real Madrid

On Tuesday, the semi-final first leg between Bayern Munich and serial Champions League winners Real Madrid will be officiated by French referee Clément Turpin. Turpin who, like Taylor, will referee Euro 2024 games this summer in Germany has never overseen a Champions League in which Real Madrid has not won. Turpin notably took charge of the infamous 2022 Champions League final at the Stade de France between Real Madrid and Liverpool (1-0).
