Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has revealed he expects an announcement on his future to be made soon as he prepares to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

The Reds agreed terms with Slot last month and struck a deal worth €15m (£12.9m) with Feyenoord to hire the Dutch boss and a handful of his backroom staff members, allowing them to switch their focus back to on-field events.

Liverpool got back to winning ways on Sunday with a 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur, and Slot admitted he watched the start of the match before having to take his Feyenoord side out to face PEC Zwolle.

"I saw a few minutes of the game but we had to come to the stadium," he revealed. "Just the first goal, a great goal. It was a good win from Liverpool. If the official confirmation is there, and I go there, I will watch a lot of games from them.

"Sometimes in life, opportunities come along and you have to listen. I have made that choice for myself. In the next days and weeks, you will see the announcement.

"Last year I made the choice to stay and now, I probably made another choice."

He added: "I'm not worried at all about whether it will go ahead – the question is when it will be communicated."

After the 5-0 win over PEC Zwolle, Slot was seen waving farewell to supporters in the stand while his face was also displayed on screens around the stadium, and the Dutch boss admitted it seemed like a natural goodbye.

"I think I agree on that, that it looked like that," he said. "Because of all the rumours in the media I think they are expecting me to leave. Yeah, that is something we could say."

Slot also revealed that, should he get the Liverpool job, he will happily take Klopp up on his offer of a phone call for advice.

"I think it's normal that if you go to a new club, and if that would be Liverpool, it is normal that you contact the former coach," Slot explained. "I did this when I went to Feyenoord as well.

"It's more than normal that, all the knowledge a person has that worked a few years at that club - and in his situation even nine years - that you contact him. Apart from that I know his assistant quite well, Pepijn Lijnders. But if there's an official confirmation, when the season is done, it would be strange if I didn't call him then."
