In a recent report, Record mentioned that Arsenal are in the running to land Feyenoord forward Santiago Gimenez this summer. It has been claimed that the Gunners are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Mexican striker later this year.

Gimenez’s Impressive Form In Dutch Football This Season

Gimenez is enjoying a decent campaign at the Dutch club as he has put in a lot of productive performances for them in front of the opposition goal. The 23-year-old has scored 24 goals and earned seven assists in 40 matches for Feyenoord this season in all competitions.

The Mexican sensation has led the line well and deserves credit for averaging 3.6 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in the Dutch Eredivisie. However, he lacks quality when distributing possession deep inside the opponent’s half after completing 69% of his attempted passes in the Dutch top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Dutch club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, the Gunners would have to make a convincing offer if they are to stand a chance of securing his services in the summer.

What Will Gimenez Bring To Arsenal?

Gimenez excels at creating some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can be a good finisher in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. The Mexican talent can even create some meaningful openings for his teammates in the final third. He is also quite clever with his movements in the opposition half.

However, Gimenez has to find a way to improve his ball distribution up top if he wants to prove his worth at the highest level. Still, he is more than capable of challenging for a regular starting spot at Arsenal in the coming years.

Gimenez would bring more firepower to Mikel Arteta’s attacking department and might even help the Gunners compete for some major trophies in the future. At 23, he has got a bright future ahead of him, so Arteta would do well to lure him to the Emirates Stadium this summer. However, it remains to be seen whether Gimenez can make a smooth transition to life in England.
