Arsenal have been handed a boost ahead of their trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on Sunday as the Red Devils have suffered a huge injury blow.

Manager Erik ten Hag confirmed on Friday afternoon that England international midfielder Mason Mount has picked up a fresh knock and is ruled out of the game.

The former Chelsea star returned to action in March having been unavailable for selection since last November, and he featured for 80 minutes on Monday during the 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace.

Man United are desperate to bounce back from that defeat and were hoping to count on Mount for the game against Arsenal, but he is unavailable.

While Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford have trained, being without Mount is not the type of news Ten Hag would have wanted.

Arsenal are chasing their first Premier League title since 2004. They must win their remaining two games against Man United and Everton and hope Manchester City drop points in any of their remaining three games.

Man United have been ravaged by injuries all season and losing someone Ten Hag was hoping to help stop Arsenal is another huge blow.

The Gunners have recorded six wins in their last ten games against Man United, drawing twice, but the two defeats have come in their last two Premier League games at Old Trafford.

They must be wary despite United’s woes.
