Can Liverpool win the title? Yes. Are they going to? Absolutely not. But there is technically still something to play for against Aston Villa.

No, it doesn’t feel that way but if Liverpool win both of their remaining fixtures and both Manchester City and Arsenal lose theirs, the title is heading to Anfield. Basically, don’t book time off work for the parade just yet.

Regardless of all that - this is Jurgen Klopp’s final away fixture in charge of Liverpool. That in of itself makes it a memorable one and the team will hopefully close the travelling chapter in style.

Liverpool and Aston Villa have faced one another on 202 occasions in history, with the Reds coming out on top in 102 games, drawing 41, and losing 59.

Jurgen Klopp’s personal record against Villa is phenomenal. He’s only dropped points against them twice in the Premier League, with one of those a 0-0 draw last May. The other, admittedly, was a bizarre 7-2 defeat at Villa Park.

But outside of those, Klopp has won every fixture against Villa. That includes a 3-0 win earlier this season thanks to goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Villa’s Matty Cash, and Mohamed Salah.

There are a huge array of broadcasters across Europe for this one, with Viaplay and DAZNamong the most prominent.

Liverpool team news

We’re still waiting on Jurgen Klopp’s press conference for confirmation, but it feels as though Liverpool might have a near-enough full squad to choose from. Diogo Jota is one major doubt as he still hasn’t definitely returned from injury yet.

Thiago, Joel Matip and Ben Doak are all certainly out of this one. That’s been known for a while, though - none of them will play again this season.

So other than the expected, Klopp could actually have all of his options available. Again, however, we’d need to hear from him on Friday before confirming that.

Aston Villa team news

Villa certainly have problems and several players have been ruled out for the season. Boubacar Tamara, Tyrone Mings, Emiliano Buendia, and Jacob Ramsey will be missing.

Then come the uncertainties. Emiliano Martinez is the biggest - he faces a late fitness test ahead of Villa’s clash with Olympiakos on Thursday. It sounds as though he’ll be back to face Liverpool, though, even if he misses the UEFA Conference League fixture.

Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Zaniolo also face fitness tests, but are less certain to feature on Thursday. That naturally makes them less likely to return against Liverpool - but chances are that all three will be fit for the Reds.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Aston Villa

Liverpool have had over a week off by the time this rolls around, while they’re also pretty much a fully fit squad. Klopp has some big decisions to make, then.

We think he’ll largely stick with the XI that beat Tottenham Hotspur last week, though. That means Jarell Quash retaining his place, along with Harvey Elliott.

It’s possible that Wataru Endo drops out, though, as Klopp may fancy either Curtis Jones or Dominik Szoboszlai in there. The latter feels a little more likely to get the nod - so we’ll put him in.

Aston Villa vs Liverpool prediction

Liverpool have the same advantage here that they did against Tottenham last week. They’ve had a full week off, while their opponents have not.

Villa will play a high-intensity fixture against Olympiakos on Thursday evening - and it’s one they they might struggle to fully recover from in time for Monday. Liverpool will want to take advantage.

And so we’ll back Liverpool to win this one, especially after the 3-0 earlier in the season. Maybe it’s not as comfortable as that, but the Reds should still get the points.
