Nunez has netted 18 goals and provided 13 assists in 52 games this term. He is averaging 2.9 shots, 1 key pass, and 0.7 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored). Despite missing the most big changes in Europe in the ongoing campaign, he has good overall stats.
The Urugian has raw pace and good strength to take on the defenders. He positions himself well to find balls near the penalty area. Always a threat in the air and with good finishing, he is a lethal striker. However, Nunez shouldn’t be missing too many big chances.
Barcelona’s continued financial crisis is not hidden from anyone. Once again, they are under pressure to balance the financial book for the next season. Though they don’t want to sell Robert Lewandowski, they might be forced given his £27 million salary per season.
If that happens, the Spanish giant will have to bring in a fresh striker to fill the gap. Darwin Nunez has been identified by the club as they believe he could be a long-term investment. The 24-year-old has performed well and is bound to get better with time.
Though Liverpool aren’t looking to sell Nunez, they might change their mind if a lucrative offer arrives. With the managerial change at Anfield, the striker’s departure is possible. However, Barcelona will have to spend large to acquire his services.
