Barcelona have endured a difficult 2023/24 campaign that saw them miss out from Copa Del Rey, UEFA Champions League and the league title.

These losses have had a significant impact on the club’s balance sheets, with the team missing out on millions of additional income.

Faced with significant economic losses, Barcelona are thus leaving no stone unturned in its quest to recoup finances.

To compensate for these shortfalls, Barcelona have set its sights on two key strategies: maximizing friendlies and securing lucrative sponsorship deals.

Scheduling conflict in Korea friendly

One of these post-season friendlies is scheduled to be held by Korea, between the last matchday of La Liga and the Champions League final.

However, in the wake of a scheduling conflict, Barça’s planned friendly in Korea is facing bouts of uncertainty.

According to AS, the issue lies with the domestic league commitments of FC Seoul, Barcelona’s likely opponent in this friendly.

The proposed May 26 date clashes with FC Seoul’s own league fixtures scheduled for the 28th and 31st of May. A potential solution – postponing the friendly to early June – presents another challenge.

By then, the Champions League final will have been played, and European Championship preparations for national teams will be underway in Germany.

This would likely deprive Barcelona of their star players, who would be on international duty, thus significantly diminishing the appeal of the friendly match.

The European Championship kicks off on June 14, with teams typically starting their training camps and warm-up matches around June 2.

Adding to Barcelona’s woes, Spain has already scheduled friendlies against Andorra and Northern Ireland on June 5th and 8th, further reducing the availability of their Spanish contingent.
