Bayer Leverkusen are keeping their dream of a treble winning unbeaten season alive, and have moved a step closer with a win against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Xabi Alonso's side were drawing 1-1 at just before half time, but a goal from Patrick Schick eased nerves heading into the break.
From then on, it was a procession as a penalty from Palacios, an effort from Jeremie Frimpong and a late goal from Victor Boniface saw the Bundesliga champions run out 5-1 winners.
In doing so, they matched the 48 game unbeaten run that had been put together by Benfica between 1963 and 1965, which was inspired in no small part by Eusebio.
It also means that avoiding defeat in the second leg against Roma on Thursday will see them reach the final of the Europa League, and also break that longstanding record.
