Bayern Munich made an enquiry on Monday about Julen Lopetegui potentially becoming the club's new coach.

But the bad news for the Bundesliga giants is their approach has reportedly been rebuffed, with Lopetegui keen to take over at West Ham instead.

That's according to information relayed by The Athletic's David Ornstein, who reports that West Ham have agreed terms with Lopetegui to take over from David Moyes as the club's manager this summer, and contracts are in the process of being finalised.

The Spaniard has been a free agent since leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers just before this season began, and has reportedly turned down a number of clubs in the Premier League, La Liga and the Saudi Pro League since then.

The Hammers board are said to have received strong references from Wolves regarding the job done by Lopetegui at Molineux, and are also impressed by the 57-year-old's 20-match unbeaten run as coach of the Spanish national team, prior to his dismissal on the eve of the 2018 World Cup.

Lopetegui went on to coach Real Madrid but lasted just 14 matches in charge of the LaLiga giants, before winning the Europa League during a three-year stint in charge of Sevilla.

He picked up an average of 1.3 Points Per Game during his 27 matches in charge of Wolves, but left the club days before the 2023/24 season began due to a disagreement with the club over resources.
