Real Madrid are now whiskers away from being confirmed as the champions of La Liga following their 3-0 win over Cadiz earlier today.

If the result of the game between Barcelona and Cadiz, currently underway, goes in their favour, the Merengues could be crowned as champions today itself and the celebrations will begin in the Spanish capital.

Speaking after the win against Cadiz, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti lauded the team’s efforts in the league, claiming that the Merengues are completely deserving of the title.

“I don’t care when I celebrate. We deserve to win this league,” said the Italian when asked about whether the team will keep an eye on the Barcelona game to start celebrations today itself.

“We have to wait. The La Liga we played this season was amazing with a lot of consistency. We failed a little, yes, but the advantage we have now is deserved,” he remarked.

It has been a season marked by Real Madrid putting their hands up in the most pivotal of moments to come out on top.

So, when asked to pick out one moment which he felt was the defining one for him and his team this season, Ancelotti chose Jude Bellingham’s goal against FC Barcelona.

Bellingham has been the star of the show for Real Madrid this term, scoring in both Clasicos in La Liga, totalling three goals across the two games.

However, perhaps the most important of these three strikes, according to Ancelotti, seems to be the stoppage-time winner he scored at the Bernabeu in their most recent meeting in April.

“Bellingham’s goal against Barcelona was the most important, because it allowed us to stay 11 points away from them.”

Further praising Bellingham for his goal today, Ancelotti added: “Bellingham fully recovered and scored today. I needed him today like Vinicius. Wednesday night will be great.”
