Here is everything you need to know about the clash.

Form

Celtic: DWDWW

Since the thrilling draw with Rangers in early April, Celtic have been almost flawless. Three consecutive league wins have made The Bhoys favourites to defend their title, while a Scottish Cup final against Rangers awaits on May 25 after squeezing past Aberdeen on penalties.

Kyogo Furuhashi was on target twice as Celtic swept aside third-placed Hearts last time out, leaving Brendan Rodgers’ side in pole position for the title. Celtic will be confident of extending their title lead on home soil and have lost just once at Celtic Park all season, against Hearts in December.

Rangers: LDWWW

After a three-game winless run prior to the post-season split, Rangers have got their title ambitions back on track with successive wins.

After booking a place in the Scottish Cup final with 2-0 win over Hearts, Philippe Clement’s side won 2-1 at St Mirren, before coming back from a goal down to thrash 10-man Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

James Tavernier has enjoyed another outstanding season in the goals and has 24 in all competitions from right-back. His 17 goals in the league are just four behind Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland in the race for the Scottish Premiership’s Golden Boot.

Last Meeting

Rangers 3-3 Celtic, Scottish Premiership, April 7th 2024

Rabbi Matondo’s stoppage-time equaliser rescued a result for Rangers in an Old Firm classic at Ibrox. A six-goal thriller had early and late drama, with Daizen Maeda opening the scoring after 21 seconds in fortuitous fashion, as James Tavernier’s attempted clearance cannoned off him and in.

Matt O’Riley doubled the lead from the penalty spot for Celtic with a confident chip, but Rangers regrouped to get back into the game. Tavernier’s spot-kick pulled one back, before Abdallah Sima’s deflected strike levelled for Rangers on 86 minutes.

In a chaotic conclusion, and just seconds later, Celtic were back in front. Adam Idah looked to have won it for Celtic as the forward fired in a low finish, though Rangers were not to be denied. In the third-minute of stoppage time, Matondo’s sensational strike equalised again, leaving the spoils shared and the title race right.
