Celtic are said to be preparing to make a move to bring on-loan striker Adam Idah to the club on a permanent basis from Norwich City this summer.

The 23-year-old made the temporary switch to Parkhead in the January transfer window, and has done enough to persuade the Bhoys’ hierarchy that he is worthy of a full-time deal.

Seven goals in 12 league games since moving to Glasgow has made the Republic of Ireland international a valuable part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans for the run-in in the Scottish Premiership, with Celtic leading rivals Rangers by three points with three games remaining.

Despite only starting four times for the league leaders, they are said to be willing to stump up some cash to bring him to the club on a permanent basis when the season comes to a close, with the Canaries said to be asking for £5 million for their frontman.

Adam Idah impresses for Celtic after switching from Norwich City

Idah had been a regular feature of the bench for the Canaries in the first half of the campaign, having played in 28 games of the Championship season, although just 12 of those from the first whistle.

The striker made an instant impact on the first day of the season, with a goal four minutes after entering the pitch to earn a 2-1 victory over Hull City, before finding the net five more times for the East Anglian before his winter switch.

Having come up through the Norwich academy, the 23-year-old has gathered more than a century of caps for the club since making his debut in 2019, with plenty of game time in the Premier League as well as the Championship.

The striker made an instant impact after moving north of the border, with five goals in as many league games to start his career in green and white, including match-winning braces against Hibernian and Motherwell.

Another striker against their Glasgow rivals in a captivating 3-3 draw last month would have helped win over his new fanbase, and has helped set the wheels in motion for a summer move away from East Anglia.

Bhoys boss Rodgers is obviously a fan of the frontman, with the former Liverpool boss confident the striker has a bright future ahead of him when speaking earlier in the season.

Rodgers said: “I know the potential that’s there with him. At 23 years old, he has everything to be a really top striker. Coming into this environment, I think part of my strength is helping players develop and improve.

"He’s come in and really enjoyed it. He’s shown the presence he gives the team.”

Adam Idah Norwich City contract information ahead of potential summer Celtic deal

After taking Idah on loan in January, Celtic don’t have an obligation to buy him at the end of his current deal, but are said to be keen to bring him to the club on a permanent deal this summer.

The striker signed a long-term deal with the Canaries last year, which saw him extend his contract in Norfolk until the summer of 2028, and are said to value their forward at £5 million.

In hindsight, that has proved to be a wonderful bit of negotiation by the Norwich board, with the frontman’s old contract set to elapse this summer, meaning he would have been able to leave the club for free had a new deal not been brokered.

With the Glasgow side showing plenty of interest ahead of the summer and boss David Wagner having plenty of firepower at his disposal, the proposed deal looks like a great situation for all parties.
