When everything is going right, something is bound to go wrong. It applies to the recent happenings to Liverpool. They were once leading the Premier League and were marching towards a treble. But things have changed drastically since then.

The Reds were eliminated from the FA by the hands of Manchester United. Then they dropped points in the domestic league and faced a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home against Atalanta in the Europa League quarter-final. For now, they are preparing for the second leg and it will be interesting to see if they can pull off a magical performance or not.

Defence

Alisson Becker recently returned from an injury and looked in good shape. He should be lined up between the sticks for Liverpool once again. Expect Trent Alexander-Arnold to start as the right-back.

The centre-back duo of Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk is likely to remain intact. They will be on their toes as they know very well what Atalanta can do on the offensive front.

Andrew Robertson has been impressive despite the team’s awful performance. There is no doubt that he is starting at the left full-back position.

Midfield

The recent displays by Wataru Endo and Curtis Jones would force Jurgen Klopp to make changes in the midfield. While Alexis Mac Allister is expected to play a deeper role, Harvey Elliott and Dominik Szoboszlai are in line to replace the former two in the lineup.

Attack

While Mohamed Salah remains on the right flank, Luis Diaz gets retained to operate on the left wing. However, Darwin Nunez is likely to face the heat for not converting good chances in the final third. Diogo Jota has regained full fitness and should be walking into the XI.

Ben Doak (knee), Joel Matip (knee) and Thiago Alcantara (muscle) are the confirmed absentees. The participation of Conor Bradley (foot) is subject to fitness.
