The 21-year-old has spent the second half of the season on loan at the MKM Stadium, where he has cemented himself as a key part of Liam Rosenior’s team.

However, he is set to return to Anfield where a decision will need to be made over his future.

Hull’s executive vice-chairman Tan Kesler admitted that the Championship side would like to pursue a move to keep Carvalho at the club beyond this loan spell.

However, a replacement for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool is still to be officially appointed, so any decision will likely have to wait until then.

Carvalho has claimed he is flattered by the transfer interest from Hull, but that he is not thinking about his future just yet.

He also indicated that he sees the potential arrival of Arne Slot as a fresh chance to break into the Liverpool first team squad, alongside fellow loanee Tyler Morton.

“I’m flattered but we’ll see what happens,” said Carvalho, via the Liverpool Echo.

“I’m just focused on where I am, which is here right now.

“Whatever happens in the future, I’ll leave it to God.”

He added, via the Echo: “The way I see it, it’s a fresh start.

“Not just for me, but obviously whoever comes in.

“It’ll be a fresh start for me, and for the likes of Tyler as well. We’ve just got to take the chances that come. Really grasp it and take it with both hands.

“Yeah, Tyler and I have spoken (about about the summer). Especially after the news came out about Jurgen. We just spoke about what could potentially change at the club.

“Ultimately, it’s a fresh start for both of us.

“We’ll just go back there with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

“Obviously I want to break into the Liverpool first-team squad, into the starting XI as well.

“For now, I’m focused on Hull City and getting promoted.

“I’m going to see how pre-season turns out and then we’ll make a decision [on my future] after that.”

Carvalho's impact at Hull

Carvalho was one of several January arrivals for the Yorkshire outfit.

He has performed well for Hull, and has played a key role in their impressive second half of the campaign.

The underage Portugal international spent the first half of the term on loan at RB Leipzig, where he struggled for game time.

However, he has enjoyed a much more positive time back in the Championship, where he also previously helped Fulham gain promotion in 2022.

The potential appointment of Slot at Liverpool this summer could be a chance to finally make a big breakthrough with the Reds, who he joined in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer.

Carvalho deal would be great business for Hull

While it remains to be seen what the future holds for Carvalho, it is clear that he would be a great permanent signing for the club.

He has proven a strong addition to Rosenior’s side, and it is easy to imagine how much better their season could’ve gone if he had been in the team from the start of the year.

Slot is looking likely to replace Klopp, and Carvalho might be more suited to the Dutchman’s style of play, which will be an issue for Hull.

Realistically, the Tigers’ only chance of keeping the Portuguese was always going to be if they gained promotion to the Premier League themselves.
