Antoine Griezmann has revealed he has no plans to leave Atlético Madrid in January.

The Frenchman was reportedly very close to joining Manchester United in the summer but Atlético’s transfer ban meant he ended up staying at the Wanda Metropolitano out of loyalty to the club.

Diego Costa’s impending return to Atleti has prompted rumours Griezmann will complete his switch to Old Trafford in the winter window but he says he’s staying put for the rest of the season at least.

“I don’t regret staying. It was my choice,” the 26-year-old told French outlet Telefoot.

“I’m happy with my choice, even if I’ve gone seven games without scoring. It will come back.

“Diego Costa and Vitolo will be coming so we will try to keep the team high enough. These two reinforcements will do us good.

“I did not discuss this [an exit agreement] with the president.”

Griezmann, who has netted just three times in all competitions so far this season, is also thought to be on Barcelona and Manchester City’s radar and could be available for around £90 million next summer.
