Has former Watford and Brighton head coach proven he is the right man to lead OH Leuven next season? | OneFootball

Up until the final game of the regular season, it looked like OH Leuven would be competing in the relegation play-offs. However, in the final minutes of their home game against KV Mechelen, Nachon Nsingi struck to move the side out of the bottom four. For the club owned by the same Thai group in charge of Leicester City, this season has been disappointing. Given the infrastructure in place at the club, OH Leuven should be pushing for top 10 every season.

During the regular season the side parted ways with long-time head coach Marc Brys and brought in former Watford and Brighton head coach Oscar Garcia. After a rocky start, Garcia has been able to achieve his initial goal of survival. Yet, now with the pressure off, OH Leuven are starting to play some of their best football of the season. After losing a crazy opening game of the play-offs against KV Mechelen, the side have gone unbeaten in their last three.

This run includes a draw with Standard Liege before two wins, one over the play-off two frontrunners Gent and the other last time out against Sint-Truiden. The side are out of contention to win the play-offs and compete for European football, but it does give fans some hope for next season. Furthermore, it also gives Garcia more credit in the bank for the summer. Prior to their survival, the turn around in form had not been obvious and there were questions as to whether or not the Spanish head coach was the right man for the job. If he can continue this form for the final six games of the play-offs, he should have done enough to earn the right to lead the side into the 2024/2025 Pro League season.
