Over the past few days, there have been rumours floating around concerning FC Barcelona and Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguayan international is reportedly on the radars of the Blaugrana as a possible replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who could be sold due to his increasing wages for next season.

Nunez himself has served to fuel talks of an exit from Liverpool by deleting all photos associated with the Reds from his Instagram account after receiving abuse from some fans as well as being relegated to the bench in recent matches.

Nunez spotted with Ronald Araujo

Now, the speculations could catch more fire as Nunez has been spotted with Barcelona captain and defender Ronald Araujo in the Catalan capital.

Indeed, the Barça centre-half posted a picture of himself with Nunez on his Instagram with a caption that read: “My brother”.

Araujo and Nunez are compatriots and teammates with the Uruguayan national team and their meeting is not a major surprise as such.

However, the timing does come off as intriguing considering the recent links between the centre-forward and Barcelona.

Despite the rumours, though, there is nothing concrete at this point and for Barcelona to think about a move for Nunez, they must first find a way to offload Lewandowski, who is poised to earn €58 million in wages over the next two seasons.
