Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti has revealed the Italian champions may enter the race to sign Manchester United and Arsenal transfer target Joshua Zirkzee this summer.

Zirkzee has enjoyed an outstanding breakout season at Bologna, who are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League for the first time since 1965 back when it was known as the European Cup. He has registered 12 goals and seven assists in 36 games across all competitions this season and been praised for his ability to link up well with his fellow attackers.

Many of Europe's top clubs are in the market for a striker this summer, and 90min revealed in January that both United and Arsenal were monitoring Zirkzee in their respective hunts for a new forward.

AC Milan and Juventus have also been linked with Zirkzee, while Bayern Munich retain a buy-back clause worth €40m after selling him to Bologna in 2022.

And Inter have now thrown their hat in the ring for the 22-year-old, with Zanetti confirming the Nerazzurri would consider a deal if it 'presents itself'.

"Zirkzee is a great champion. We are talking about a young, talented, intelligent, physically very strong player," he told Radio Serie A. "Someone like that would be useful to any great team aiming for important goals. If an important opportunity presents itself, maybe we can think about it."

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio also recently discussed Zirkzee as well as Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

"Joshua Zirkzee and Albert Gudmundsson are two excellent quality players but it doesn't mean that we will buy them," Ausilio said.

Inter recently wrapped up their 20th Scudetto following a fine 2023/24 season, and they could end the season with over 100 points if they win their final four fixtures.
