Brighton & Hove Albion defender Guro Bergsvand says that the club have had a rollercoaster campaign.

The Seagulls have collected 18 points from their 18 Barclays Women’s Super League matches so far this season. The points tally is a fair representation of what has been a turbulent campaign in which the club have recorded some good results at times but also some disappointing ones.

When speaking in a Brighton & Hove Albion press conference, Bergsvand gave a realistic summary of the club’s season so far. After many ups and downs, the player feels that The Seagulls are now moving in the right direction.

“The season has had a lot of ups and downs,” Bergsvand said. “We started the season with a good result against Everton in the first game, had a few rough games, we beat Manchester City and then there was a new coach.

“It has been a rollercoaster but I think the last few months have been good and hopefully, we can now do the double over Everton [on Friday].”

After Brighton & Hove Albion sacked former boss Melissa Phillips at the beginning of February, Mikey Harris was tasked with improving the club’s form. Bergsvand believes that the team are growing under Harris’ interim leadership and says that they are aiming for a strong finish to the season.

She said “We’ve improved our game a lot over these last few months. We want to get as much as we can out of these last four games and continue what we have started.

“The team and the group are in a really good place now and we want to continue to grow and develop as a team and as individuals.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s latest fixture against Everton will be staged at the Amex Stadium on Friday evening. Bergsvand is looking forward to another big occasion for the team at their main stadium.

She said “It’s a different atmosphere than what you get at Crawley; it’s bigger, the pitch is perfect, the dressing rooms. You get that feeling that you are really a part of Brighton and get to experience the same as the men. That’s really important and it’s good for the game.

“It’ll give us a boost. If we could choose, we’d play every game at the Amex.”
