Cast your mind back to the earlier this month and that picture that was doing the rounds on social media.
That doesn’t narrow it down, does it? Well, let’s help you out. It was this one:
It could be just a bunch of lads standing around, getting their picture taken while watching an Owen Wilson movie but it was the highly-rated Gremio midfielder Arthur posing in a Barcelona shirt alongside the Barcelona’ sports director, Robert Fernandez.
The Brazilian club were, understandably, annoyed by this and have decided to exact revenge on Barcelona. How so? Well instead of selling Arthur to them, they are going to kick the Catalans where it hurts and sell him to … Real Madrid.
Ouch.
According to the report in Marca: “Arthur is well liked by Madrid scouts. They consider his hypothetical addition to be an interesting one, as he is one of the finest talents available on the Brazilian market in recent years along with the already signed Vinicius Junior.
“Sources close to the player have assured that Arthur is not committed to Barcelona and that the player wants nothing to do with the Catalan club at this point in time.”
Of course, Madrid will get a chance to see Arthur up close in Saturday’s World Club Cup final and should his performance convince Madrid take a punt on him, they will have to pay his buy-out clause of €50m.
