Feyenoord boss Arne Slot has revealed whether or not he will contact Jurgen Klopp this summer when he is officially announced as Liverpool's next manager.

The 45-year-old, who oversaw a 5-0 Feyenoord win on Sunday evening, has agreed a deal to become the next Liverpool boss, and a formal announcement of his arrival is expected at the end of the current campaign.

The Dutch coach will replace the legendary Klopp this summer and will have enormous shoes to fill, with the iconic 56-year-old an incredibly difficult man to succeed.

However, Slot could be a perfect fit for the Reds, and he has now responded to questions regarding whether or not he will reach out to Klopp for advice this summer.

ARNE SLOT TO CONTACT JURGEN KLOPP

Following Feyenoord's win over PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie on Sunday night, Slot was asked plenty of questions regarding his future, including whether or not he will talk to Klopp after taking the Liverpool post.

"I think it’s normal that if you go to a new club, and if that would be Liverpool, it is normal that you contact the former coach," said Slot.

"I did this when I went to Feyenoord as well. It’s more than normal that, all the knowledge a person has that worked a few years at that club – and in his situation even nine years – that you contact him.

"Apart from that I know his assistant quite well, Pepijn Lijnders. But if there’s an official confirmation, when the season is done, it would be strange if I didn’t call him then."

Slot was serenaded by Feyenoord supporters at De Kuip after their emphatic weekend victory, with fans even filmed waving goodbye to the coach that has guided the club to an Eredivisie title and KNVB Beker (Dutch Cup) over the past two seasons.

Asked after the match whether it was a goodbye, Slot added: "I think I agree on that, that it looked like that because of all the rumours in the media I think they are expecting me to leave. Yeah, that is something we could say."

Like Liverpool, Feyenoord have just two games left to play this season, with the Rotterdam club guaranteed to finish second in the Eredivisie.
