Bayern Munich have announced the sale of Douglas Costa to Juventus for €46 million.

Costa joined the Bianconeri on an initial loan deal in the summer and Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge announced on Friday that the transfer has now been made permanent.

The fee is comprised of the €6m Juve initially paid to loan the Brazilian winger plus an additional €40 million and represents the German giants new record fee received for a player.

“Douglas Costa was initially loaned, but he has been sold to Juventus for the next season for a total of €46m,” said Rummenigge at the club’s annual general meeting held on Friday evening at the Munich Audi Dome.

Costa joined Bayern from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2015 and netted 17 goals in 44 games for the club.

The 27-year-old Brazilian international has so far made 16 appearances for Juve, scoring one goal.
