Lazio coach Igor Tudor feels that Inter Milan are one of the three teams playing the best football in Europe right now.

The Biancocelesti coach reacted to his team’s 1-1 draw against the Nerazzurri in Serie A in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews. He looked at the point positively considering the opposition.

As expected, Lazio gave Inter a very tough match.

The team from the Italian capital were hardly lacking a reason to fight. They have European ambitions for the final matches of the season, aiming for the Europa League ahead of city rivals Roma.

That does not mean, however, that Inter did not have motivations of their own.

And particularly in the opening stages, the Nerazzurri really threw everything they could at Lazio.

But the Biancocelesti held firm, aided by some good saves by the returning Ivan Provedel.

Then, Lazio began to find a real foothold for themselves in the match. And they were rewarded for their efforts with an opening goal.

Striker Taty Castellanos thought that he’d scored initially. However, the Argentine proved to be offside in the buildup to the goal.

But there was nothing wrong with the goal from Japanese international Daichi Kamada.

For much of the second half, Lazio held onto their advantage.

Inter were not able to break through for all their positive approach play.

However, wingback Denzel Dumfries found the equalizer in the closing stages. The Dutchman’s header prevented Lazio from taking what would have been a very valuable win for them.

However, even just a draw is hardly something for Tudor’s team to turn their noses up at. And it could still prove to be important in the European places next weekend.

Moreover, just as important as the result was the performance. Lazio came to the San Siro and played a match that was never one-sided in favour of the home side.

Asked if he feels that this was a missed opportunity for his team, Biancocelesti coach Tudor replied that “There was nothing about this that was a missed opportunity.”

“Today we gained a lot.”

“I have to give my congratulations to the guys,” Tudor said of the match that his team played.

“And then there’s a bit of regret for the goal that we conceded, right after a counterattack that we couldn’t take advantage of him.”

“Coming here, up against a team who are one of the three teams playing the best football in Europe, and playing the match that we did… The guys did brilliantly.”

Tudor reflected that “We had to suffer, run, and fight.”

“We take this point with pride,” the Lazio coach added.
