Leeds United's recent Championship collapse means Crysencio Summerville looks more likely to leave the club in the coming months.

The Dutchman has been in electric form in the second tier this season, after emerging as one of Daniel Farke's key men in the Whites' push for automatic promotion.

There is reported interest in the 22-year-old from Liverpool, with Fabrizio Romano stating that he is "really appreciated" by the Reds.

The chances of him remaining in West Yorkshire surely hinges on Farke's men securing promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, but they have won just two of their last seven Championship games and Ipswich Town now only need a point against lowly Huddersfield Town on Saturday to secure their return to the top-flight.

The Whites are set to miss out on automatic promotion, which plays into Liverpool's hands with him inevitably destined to leave the club if they do not go up through the playoffs.

He has netted 19 goals and provided nine assists in 42 league games prior to the final game against Southampton this weekend, also picking up the Championship Player of the Season award for his impressive exploits.

Summerville made the move to Leeds for a reported £1.3m in September 2020, and they look set to net a huge profit with a price tag of £30-40m ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider.

He went on to make 34 top-flight appearances in the next three seasons, scoring four goals including a last-gasp winner away to Liverpool in October 2022.

Summerville's Liverpool latest

The Dutchman signed a new deal with Leeds in 2022 until the summer of 2026, so they are in a good position to demand a sizeable fee for a player that has fast become their most valuable asset.

Liverpool are set to appoint Feyenoord boss Arne Slot as Jurgen Klopp departs, and according to Dutch source 1908.nl, the incoming boss is “wild” about his fellow Dutchman, who began his career with the current Eredivisie champions.

Speaking via his Here We Go podcast, respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano explained that the club have been admirers of the exciting winger for a long time.

He said: "What I am hearing is true that Summerville at Leeds United is one of the players they are monitoring.

"They sent their scouts multiple times - even before [Michael] Edwards and [Richard] Hughes arrived at the club - to follow the progress of Summerville.

"So now, let's see what Liverpool will decide to do. But the player is really appreciated."

The Reds have also endured a disappointing end to the season, after falling all but out of the Premier League title race with one win in their last five league games.

Their attack has not looked as free-flowing and dynamic compared to recent seasons, with the futures of Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah uncertain following Klopp's departure.

There are certainly places to compete for in the Reds' attack, and Summerville would surely fancy himself to challenge with their star men for a possible starting berth in the Premier League and European competitions.

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa have also set their sights on signing the 22-year-old winger this summer.

The Villans will be an attractive proposition to Summerville as they close in on Champions League football in fourth place under Unai Emery with just three league games left.

The Dutchman has no shortage of suitors, with HITC reporting last month that Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and West Ham United have all checked out Summerville in recent months, according to their sources.

It is not just domestic clubs that have been linked to Summerville, as German outlet SportBild recently reported Leeds' interest in Bayer Leverkusen forward Adam Hlozek, with the German champions possibly interested in a deal that involves Summerville heading the other way.

HITC have also reported that Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and FC Porto are monitoring his progress at Leeds.

With all factors considered, it looks almost impossible for Summerville to stay Elland Road this summer if Leeds do not go up to the Premier League.

As the Whites are currently on course for the play-offs – due to a run of just one win in their last five – and not the top two, his path to Liverpool certainly looks much clearer.
