Leeds United are interested in signing Nat Phillips from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Since 2016, Phillips has been contracted to Liverpool. Unfortunately for the defender, though, he has been somewhat of a bit part player for Jürgen Klopp, only appearing 29 times for the club he left Bolton to join.

Having only made 94 first-team appearances across his whole career, the Cardiff loanee is being touted for a move to Leeds United this summer, according to the print edition of The Mirror.

Nat Phillips: Career so far

The dominating defender is a player who, at 27-years-old, has been plagued by injuries from an early stage in his career.

Having joined Liverpool in 2016, he suffered a back injury that left him out of a large part of the 2017-18 campaign. It was a similar story the following year as he couldn't build on an impressive pre-season as he succumbed to an ankle injury which required extensive surgery.

2019-20 finally brought some luck for Phillips, and at 22-years-old he made a loan move to Germany after signing a new contract at Anfield.

Stuttgart allowed the defender to gain experience and an injury crisis for Liverpool in the next campaign, saw Phillips make his Premier and Champions League debut. A 3-0 win away at Turf Moor saw him score his first professional goal, and he helped his side steal a 3rd place finish in the league.

In truth, it hasn't kicked on since then for the Bolton-born player. Despite successful loan moves to Bournemouth and Cardiff, his big chance at Celtic was a real disappointment, and it seems a permanent move away from his parent club is on the horizon.

Daniel Farke is interested again in Phillips

As stated by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Farke was interested in attaining the services of Phillips in January, but disappointingly, he opted to join Cardiff in Wales instead.

With his contract running until the summer of 2026, the Merseyside club are still in a strong position for negotiations with Leeds. An estimated transfer value of £3 million would be a price that Farke's side could comfortably afford, and he would be a defensively sound addition to one of the Championship's best defences.

A worry for the Elland Road faithful will be interest from Cardiff in retaining his services for next season. Speaking about his spell in Wales, Phillips said: "I have enjoyed my time here and enjoyed playing regularly".

Regularity has been something that the Liverpool youngster has struggled for throughout his career, but if Erol Bulut remains in the Welsh capital, you feel that they have a chance of keeping him.

For Leeds, the deciding factor between whether Phillips joins them or Cardiff, could be the incentive of Premier League football. Having only featured 19 times in the top division, and a Liverpool return seemingly off the cards, a Leeds promotion and the subsequent signing could be the answer for Nat Phillips.
