According to Fichajes, Liverpool are highly interested in signing Inter Milan star midfielder Nicolo Barella in the summer transfer window. The Premier League club want to add him to their ranks as they look to improve the squad for next season.

Nicolo Barella is one of the most highly-rated midfielders across the football fraternity at present. He has been associated with Inter Milan since 2019 and has been one of their mainstays. Even in the ongoing campaign, he has been instrumental in leading the club to the Serie A title victory.

The 27-year-old has netted twice and assisted seven goals in 44 games this season. He is averaging 1 shot, 1.3 key passes, and 0.6 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).

Barella is better known for his playmaking rather than defensive works. He can break the opponent’s defence with his intelligent passes. He is also good at taking set pieces, making him a valuable creative pick in the midfield.

Inter Milan find it tough to hold Nicolo Barella

Liverpool’s alleged interest in Nicolo Barella is understandable as they have faced problems in the midfield unit this season due to injuries and other reasons. Hence, they want to acquire a fresh player to provide the much-needed depth and flexibility.

In that aspect, Barella is a good fit as he has the necessary experience and expertise to make an instant impact. He is at the peak of his career and has a good number of years left to perform. Hence, it will be a good signing for the Reds.

However, they aren’t alone in the race obviously. The likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Manchester United have also marked their presence. Inter Milan, on the other hand, might have to offload the hot property despite having no wish to do so.
