In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Liverpool are preparing to move in for Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella. It has been stated that the Reds are ready to launch a move for the Italian midfield ace this summer.

Barella is enjoying a solid campaign at the Italian club after he put in a run of impressive performances for them in the final third. The Italian sensation has scored two goals and grabbed seven assists in 44 matches for Inter Milan this season across various competitions.

The 27-year-old has been a good performer at the centre of the park as he is averaging 1.2 tackles, 1.1 shots, 1.2 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has also been tidy when distributing the ball from midfield based on his pass success rate of 86.7% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Milan club will run out in the summer of 2026 which could make it tough for the Reds to snap him up on a cut-price deal later this year.

Should Liverpool Go For Barella?

Barella is a tough-tackling midfielder who can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range. He has also got the vision to create a few decent chances for his teammates in the opponent’s half and is an energetic runner with the ball.

The Italian sensation mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also play as a defensive midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if told to do so.  He is good enough to help the Merseyside club compete across all fronts over the next few years.

Barella would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Liverpool‘s match-day squad. He is good enough to serve as a decent replacement for Wataru Endo, who has struggled to be consistent with his performances in the Premier League recently, at the Merseyside club.

With all things considered, the Reds would be wise to go for someone like Barella as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new campaign. However, there are some concerns over whether the Italian midfield ace can adapt to the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football.
