Liverpool record-breaker confirms his season is OVER after picking up injury | OneFootball

One Liverpool player confirmed he will miss the rest of the season with an injury as the Reds continue to contend with problems in that department.

Bobby Clark confirmed on Twitter that he will not play again this season. The youngster didn’t go into any detail, but announced he would switch his focus to competing for a place in the next campaign.

"Unfortunately my season has came to an end early due to injury,” he wrote. “Time to focus on getting back fit for the new season."

Clark, who turned 19 in February, enjoyed something of a breakthrough campaign this season. He featured 12 times in all, including over 50 minutes in the EFL Cup final against Chelsea.

A start against Sparta Prague in the UEFA Europa League last-16 led to his first Liverpool goal, too. In doing so, he became the Reds’ youngest-ever goalscorer in European competitions.

But Clark won’t play any further part in the campaign. In truth, it felt unlikely that he would - we haven’t seen the midfielder since he played the final six minutes against Manchester United in the FA Cup.

This is confirmation, though, and Clark won’t be back in Red until pre-season.

Bobby Clark’s Liverpool future

Clark has an interesting immediate future with Liverpool. Of course, he’s not quite a first-team regular, only getting minutes when several others are injured.

He’ll have always targeted next season as the year to change that. Arne Slot’s arrival, though, increases his chances - after all, no one in the squad is established in the Dutchman’s system yet.

And so if Clark can impress in pre-season, he may just force his way up the pecking order. It’s all about catching Slot’s eye, along with everyone else in the squad.

But with Clark having made great strides in 2024, he’ll back himself to keep it going and prove himself further under Slot.
