Julen Lopetegui has ‘agreed’ a return to the Premier League ahead of next season.

The Spaniard has been out of work since last summer when he vacated the Wolves job, which was taken up by former Bournemouth boss Gary O’Neil.

The 57-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs in the meantime, including Manchester United and Bayern Munich as well as teams in La Liga and the Saudi Pro League.

However, it appears Lopetegui will be heading to east London instead, as he has “agreed terms” to become the next West Ham United manager, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Nothing has yet been signed, but the Premier League club are close to landing a deal for the former Real Madrid and Spain boss.

It has also emerged that Bayern “made an enquiry” on Monday about Lopetegui potentially replacing Thomas Tuchel, The Athletic claims. But he has his sights set on joining the Hammers.

Former Chelsea manager Tuchel is set to the leave the German outfit this summer, even though he could guide the club to Champions League glory this year.

David Moyes, whose contract expires at the end of this season, is expected to leave West Ham despite being offered a new deal in February.

The Scot postponed making a decision on his future until after the season concludes, but poor results of late mean he is unlikely to remain in the dugout.
