Arsenal’s Alex Kirk has been on loan with National League team Bromley FC this season, and he came on at the weekend against Solihull Moors to help them to win the play-off final at Wembley and achieve promotion to League Two.

Though Kirk didn’t start the match, he ended up playing almost an hour of football, as the play-off final went to extra time and ultimately penalties. He almost won it before that, hitting the post late in extra time.

Bromley scored four of their penalties, Solihull Moors netted just three, so Kirk’s loan side will be playing in the higher division next season. If their manager Andy Woodman gets his way, the Arsenal defender might be back with them again for that new challenge.

“Alex is a boy I’ve known since he was at Arsenal,” said Woodman, who himself used to work for the Gunners.

“He’s a centre-half, but we put him in at wingback, which we’ve done a couple of times. You know, he’s a fit boy. He was great; he gave us that bit of energy down that side at the end.

“Yeah (I’d like to bring him back). There will be a lot of discussions to be had between now and next week, so we will get on that next week.”

Arsenal’s Kido Taylor-Hart also had a role to play in Bromley’s promotion, albeit a relatively small one.

The winger only made nine league appearances for Bromley over the course of the season, and just two starts. But he did score one goal against Woking and assist another against Solihull Moors, both of which secured his team draws.
