Former Premier League striker and fellow Belgian icon Christian Benteke has tipped Kevin De Bruyne to make a move to the United States in the coming years.

The future of the Belgian legend remains somewhat in doubt as he approaches the final year of his current Manchester City contract, and no developments on renewal conversations surfacing as of late.

De Bruyne is understood to be a primary target for Saudi Arabian football officials ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, with those working on deals for the Saudi Pro League believing that a fee north of £100 million would be deemed acceptable by Manchester City.

However, at the same time it is felt that both Kevin De Bruyne and Manchester City want to retain their allegiance and extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium, with negotiations expected to be opened during the summer months.

Despite that stance, and speaking on the future of Kevin De Bruyne as relayed by GOAL, Christian Benteke explained how he can visualise the Manchester City playmaker starring in Major League Soccer later on in his professional career.

“He’s 32 and he’s been around in Europe for many, many years,” Christian Benteke said. “I can see him at a team in LA.”

Continuing on the nature of MLS and what players like Kevin De Bruyne can expect from the division, Benteke continued, “I would describe the league as physical and technical… it’s a mix of both, people think, ‘Oh yeah, MLS is easy. They don’t really care about football or soccer.’

“Until you play the game, you understand that you will enjoy yourself. But you better be ready, you better respect the league because it’s not that easy.”

Some within the game believe that a move to the United States would appeal more to Kevin De Bruyne and his young family, rather than a move to the Middle-East, despite the wide range of familiar names that have already made the move to Saudi Arabia.

Manchester City’s last summer transfer window saw the club do deals with a number of clubs, as both Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez left the Treble-winning operation for Saudi, while Ilkay Gundogan, Joao Cancelo, and Bernardo Silva were all discussed.
