Manchester City just know how to get over the line during the Premier League run-in and their hopes of a record-breaking fourth consecutive league title remain in their own hands.

Pep Guardiola’s team are unbeaten in the Premier League since December 6, a run of 19 league games without defeat. Though a Champions League exit to Real Madrid on penalties was a blow, the Citizens are flying in the Premier League right now with five consecutive wins and 19 goals scored across that run.

Erling Haaland returned from a recent absence to score against Nottingham Forest off the bench last time out and now has 21 goals in the Premier League this season. One clear of Cole Palmer in the race for the Golden Boot, he’s aiming to become only the sixth player to win the award in consecutive campaigns.

Wolves: LDLLW

Wolves ended a run of six games without a win to beat Luton Town 2-1 last weekend, after a run of results that brought an end to hopes of European qualification. Gary O’Neil has performed above all expectations this season to keep Wolves comfortably clear of trouble, having inherited the side from Julen Lopetegui’s walkout on the eve if the campaign.

Hwang Hee-chan returned to the scoresheet against Luton as the South Korean scored his 11th goal of the Premier League season, level as the club’s leading scorer alongside Matheus Cunha. Each have shown huge improvement in the final third this season, having combined for just five goals in 2022/23.

Set-pieces have been a strength for Wolves this season with only Arsenal, Everton and Manchester City have scored more than their 14 goals from such situations, while only five clubs have conceded less from set-pieces, excluding penalties.

Gary O’Neil will be suspended for the clash after being handed a one-match touchline ban.

Last Meeting

Wolves 2-1 Manchester City, Premier League, 30/09/2023

Wolves ended Manchester City’s perfect start to the Premier League season with an upset win at Molineux.

Pedro Neto’s marauding run from inside his own half led to a Ruben Dias own goal to open the scoring, though City levelled through a fantastic free-kick from Julian Alvarez after the break.

However, the Citizens showed vulnerability down the left-side of their defence and another right-sided raid from Wolves led to the winner. Nelson Semedo’s cross was half-cleared and Hwang Hee-chan converted at the second attempt to fire Wolves to the win.
