Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood nominated for La Liga Team of the Season | OneFootball

Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood has been nominated for La Liga Team of the Season in EA Sports FC 24 amidst an impressive spell at Estadio Coliseum with Getafe.

Greenwood joined Getafe last summer after it became abundantly clear that the forward could not carry on with his career at Old Trafford.

Club bosses led by former CEO Richard Arnold had provisionally planned to reintegrate him back into the squad but when their plot was leaked, the Red Devils faced intense criticism and a public outcry, which ultimately forced them to backtrack. A decision was then made to send Greenwood to Spain in an effort to get his stagnating career back on track.

The Englishman has shone under Jose Bordalas. In 28 top-flight games, Greenwood has notched eight goals and six assists.

The Carrington academy graduate has managed 10 goals across all competitions. He ranks in the 92nd percentile for goal contributions in La Liga.

Unsurprisingly, Greenwood’s exploits have drawn the interest of some top clubs in Europe that are keen to secure his services and offer him a permanent home.

The likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Juventus have all been mentioned to be admirers of the talented footballer. Getafe are also keen on extending his stay with them but are likely to be priced out of a permanent move by rivals with deeper pockets.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United want between £30-£40 million for the 22-year-old and if their valuation is not met, a return to the Theatre of Dreams is on the cards.

Greenwood is one of 19 attackers who have been nominated to be possibly included in the La Liga Team of the Season.

He features on a list also consisting of stars such as Real Madrid trio Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo Goes. Also in contention to be part of the XI is Girona’s Artem Dovbyk, who leads the division’s scoring chart with 19 goals.

Greenwood is also one of three Getafe players to receive a Team of the Season nomination, alongside teammates Diego Rico and Borja Mayoral.

Voting is open until May 5.

The next assignment for Greenwood and Getafe is Athletic Club on Friday, as they aim to close the gap on Real Sociedad and attain European qualification.
