Erik ten Hag’s coaching came into question over the weekend, as Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth away from home.

Man United, who have lately built a reputation of conceding plenty of shots every game, were yet again on the back foot, fortunate to avoid another humbling from the Cherries.

Whether Ten Hag deserves to remain at the helm beyond this summer remains a subject of debate, but even his biggest supporters would now concede that he could do with fresh tactical ideas.

As things stand, there are no suggestions concerning the Red Devils’ plan to make any new additions to their backroom staff. Instead, it is Arsenal who might find themselves in the market for the same.

According to ESPN Argentina (via The Mirror), Mikel Arteta is keen on roping in former United defender Gabriel Heinze to rejuvenate his coaching team.

The Spaniard, who has made Arsenal tactically one of the most formidable sides in Europe, is currently helped by Albert Stuivenberg and Carlos Cuesta.

For those unversed, Stuivenberg served as Louis van Gaal’s assistant during the legendary Dutch tactician’s two-year spell at Old Trafford.

He has now impressed with his work under Arteta, leading to interest from Ajax.

Accordingly, Arteta has started to explore potential replacements and has already held talks with Heinze.

The Argentine played for United from 2004 to 2007. Before that, he had a stint at Paris Saint-Germain, where he shared the dressing room with Arteta.

The Arsenal gaffer supposedly sees Heinze, whose last coaching role came with Newell’s Old Boys, as the ideal candidate.

However, it is not going to be easy to persuade the former United man, as it is understood that he has several options on the table.
