An insight into the plans of the powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid for the club’s central defensive ranks next season has on Sunday been forthcoming.

The info comes courtesy of Marca, and points towards a couple of different scenarios being in play.

The ideal situation for Real would be to secure reinforcements at the heart of the club’s backline, through the addition of long-term target Leny Yoro.

The impending departure of Nacho will open up a spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, with the priority of Los Blancos to fill as much coming in the form of LOSC Lille sensation Yoro.

The problem, however, lies in the price.

Marca point towards the Lille brass continuing to demand €60 million who remains just 18 years of age, and will see his contract with the club expire next summer.

Unwilling to fork over anything close to this sum in the knowledge that they could potentially land Yoro for free in 12 months’ time, Florentino Pérez and co. are therefore ready to afford a chance to a member of the club’s loan army.

If Yoro does not arrive, then Rafa Marín looks likely to be afforded a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for 2024/25.

Marín, for his part, has enjoyed an impressive campaign on loan at La Liga outfit Alavés, enough to convince those at his parent club of his readiness to contribute in a backup role next season.
