Liverpool’s Premier League title race appears all but run and barring a miracle set of results it will be either Arsenal or Manchester City taking home the trophy this season.

The Gunners are seeking their first Premier League title for two decades while Pep Guardiola’s City side are chasing their sixth title in seven years.

Following the draw between the two sides at the end of March, the City boss declared that the title was Liverpool’s to lose but the Reds have suffered a monumental collapse on three fronts in the last month.

A 2-2 draw with Manchester United was followed by a loss to Crystal Palace at home and, in the last few days, the Anfield outfit have lost the Merseyside Derby and drawn with West Ham.

Liverpool have gone from everything to nothing at the end of a season in which they were battling a severe injury crisis, with top players such as Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah - among others - all missing significant matches with various knocks and strains.

While Guardiola might have made his claim that the Reds were favourites for the title, not every expert saw it that way.

Liverpool ‘nowhere near’ City and Arsenal says Neville

Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville says he was never convinced of the Merseysiders’ title credentials, refuting the notion that the club had ‘bottled it’ over the past few weeks.

“Overall on Liverpool, I'm not sat here thinking that they bottled it,” Neville told Sky Sports’ The Gary Neville Podcast.

“I'm sat here thinking that they were running a 100 million miles an hour. I mentioned about six to eight weeks ago I like they were sprinting for their lives to stay in this title race because their performance levels were nowhere near the level of Arsenal and City.

“You watch them all every single week and Arsenal were at a really high level, City were getting to a really high level and Liverpool were just hanging on in there and I feel like it's just gone over the edge. It's just been too much for them.”
