Barcelona are in the market for a new pivot midfielder for the summer transfer window. At the same time, they are also looking to sign a new interior midfielder and a left winger.

One of the names on the list for Barcelona is Villarreal ace Alex Baena. The Spanish ace is a versatile midfielder who can play as an interior or on the wing.

The 22-year-old midfielder is a player who is greatly admired by Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez and others at the club.

And now, the midfielder has revealed that he dreams of playing for Barcelona, although he did admit that he is very happy at Villarreal and hopes to stay there for many years.

“Who wouldn’t like to play for Barça? Playing for Barça would be one of my biggest dreams as a footballer, it is the best team in the world,” said on Cadena SER as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“But I am in the club of my life, which is where I started and I hope I will be there for many years here”, Baena added.

The Spanish international also confirmed that he has a release clause in his contract with Villarreal which stands at €60 million, which clubs must pay to sign him.

“I think whoever loves me will have to pay them,” he said.

Baena clarified, once again opening the door to Barça, as he said: “Nothing has come to me, we are focused on finishing the season, on playing the Euro Cup with the national team if possible, then we will see and we will talk, but who wouldn’t like to play for Barça.”
