Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden is on track to become an all-time great at the club. The trajectory of Foden’s career also has him on the path to becoming one of the greatest players in Premier League history. If Phil Foden continues on the path he has began his young career, the sky is the limit for what he can become by the end of his career.

Foden was yesterday named as the FWA Men’s Footballer of the Year. He beat Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice and teammate Rodri to the prestigious award. It is the first significant individual award of Foden’s young career. It will likely be the first of many given the start he has made to his career.

Speaking during his pre-game press conference yesterday, Pep Guardiola believes Foden could become one of Manchester City’s greatest ever players. When asked about Phil Foden and his career trajectory, Guardiola said: “This club has a long, long history. So you can’t forget what happened with the players who played at Maine Road. Like everyone knows. I think the club has been built with many, many top-quality players. I have the feeling if he continues his career until the end here and continues that level, he can be one of the best, that’s for sure.

There can be little doubt of Phil Foden’s standing in the game currently. He has become one of the best players in the Premier League this season. At times, he has carried Manchester City on his back to maintain City’s chase for a Premier League/FA Cup double this campaign. With 24 goals and 10 assists so far, this campaign it has easily been the most productive season of Foden’s career. If he continues on his current career trajectory, he may well become the greatest player in Manchester City’s illustrious history.
