The Portuguese FA have written to Celtic to update fans that the Estadio Nacional will be closed on a few dates in May and June for games.

As first revealed on Celtic Shorts last night, the Portuguese FA have issued an update for Celtic fans keen to make the pilgrimage to Lisbon.

“The message states from Portuguese FA: “We would like you to inform Celtic FC fans that our National Stadium (Jamor) will not be receiving visits on May 18th, 19th, 25th and 26th, June 7th to 10th, because of the National Cup Final and National team match against Croatia.”

Celtic’s greatest day occurred at the Estadio Nacional in Lisbon when Jock Stein’s side won the European Cup beating Inter Milan 2-1. Fans congregate around the goalmouth that Tommy Gemmell and Stevie Chalmers scored into on that famous day in 1967.

Fans have been making the trip across to the stadium whenever they are in Portugal as they look to follow in the footsteps of Billy McNeill, who famously collected the big cup after the game.

Meanwhile, Celtic will be hoping to attach another famous day to the 25th of May when Celtic face Rangers at Hampden in the Scottish Cup.
