Real Madrid booked a place at Wembley last night with an emphatic turnaround in the dying minutes of the semifinal against Bayern Munich.

The club will thus play the final early next month against Borussia Dortmund, who overcame resistance from PSG in the other half of the draw.

While last night’s game in Madrid gave Los Blancos reason to celebrate and get closer to a dream double, Aurelien Tchouameni’s injury looked concerning as the player was taken off midway through the second half.

Earlier today, the club confirmed that the player had suffered a stress injury to his left foot, and L’Equipe provides more clarity on the same.

Battling through pain

According to the French outlet, Tchouameni has been playing with pain in his foot for a while now.

Carlo Ancelotti sees the player as essential to his team’s dynamics, and as such the midfielder has been playing through the pain and has always been ready to give his all.

The youngster battled through the pain for over an hour, but when the suffering got very severe, he asked to be taken off and was replaced by Eduardo Camavinga in the 70th minute.

He was, thus, taken off purely owing to his fitness setback and not as part of a tactical haul.

Out for long

The reliable media outlet also relays that Tchouameni is expected to be out for at least three to four weeks through his latest setback.

Needless to say, this comes as a massive setback for Carlo Ancelotti and Co. as it could imply that the player will be unavailable for the UCL final at Wembley.

In fact, reports state that the club offices see only a 20% chance of the defensive midfielder returning in time for the title fixture.

Should Tchouameni be unavailable, all signs point to Eduardo Camavinga covering for his compatriot once more. The focus, however, will be on ensuring that the first-choice pivot is back fit and raring.
